First appearance: Chapter Three - Anna of the Six Towns

Anna Fitzgerald was born in 1875 in Caverswall, Stoke-On-Trent. She always had a passion for reading and writing and at the age of eighteen Anna decided that she wanted to become a journalist. At the age of twenty, she became romantically linked to notorious jewel thief 'Big' Hugo Edwards. Instead of being seduced by the life of crime, Anna wrote a sensational story that exposed the theif and told the world of his many exciting and illegal exploits. She successfully sold the article to the local newspaper, 'The Sentinel'.

Impressed by her work and dogged persistance, the paper took Anna on as their first female journalist. However due to the times, Anna was forced to write under a male pseudonym, much to her anger and annoyance. Anna is constantly on the look out for the next big story, the story that will finally allow her to give up her pseudonym and pave the way for other women to work in traditionally male jobs.

Anna has recently been corresponding with a local doctor who has been investigating the recent increase in numbers of missing persons in Stoke-On-Trent.
